At FRESHFARM, we have honored Shana’s legacy by keeping the principles of racial equity and justice at the forefront of our work every day. With Shana's Memorial Fund, FoodPrints is able to further support new food educators in DC, including two new staff members this year, Vonnie Love and Da’Shawn Convington.

As FRESHFARM marks its 25th Anniversary, the FoodPrints program just wrapped up its 17th year of growing, cooking, eating, and learning with students across DC. As we reflect on this school year and look ahead to next, we are so grateful to all of the FoodPrints advocates in our school communities and beyond that support the continued growth of our program.

Ward 8 resident and Community Food Educator Rose Williams testifies to the DC Council: A decade ago, I was a parent at Watkins Elementary and experienced the phenomenal impact the FoodPrints program had on my son. He learned his love of Brussels sprouts at Foodprints and to this day these remain a regular item at our family dinner table. Now, many years later, I am a FRESHFARM Community Food Educator working with the Simon Elementary community getting children & families interested in fresh fruit and veggies, gardening & exploring the food system from a hands-on lens.
