Summer Meals at Columbia Heights
Free meals are available for children ages 5 to 18-years-old at the FRESHFARM Columbia Heights Farmers Markets on Wednesdays (June 22 – August 24, 2024) and Saturdays (July 1 -August 17, 2024).
- Lunch meals are provided on Saturdays from 9am to 12pm.
- Supper meals are provided on Wednesdays from 4pm to 7pm.
For pick up, children and their families should visit the Info Tent at the market and request their meal. A market staff person will hand over the meal, and that’s it! No ID or proof of residency is required.
About
When school lets out for the summer, children across the region are at higher risk of experiencing food insecurity, having lost access to meals and snacks provided by their educational institution. Together, FRESHFARM, DC Central Kitchen and CentroNía seek to bridge that gap and improve food access for children in Ward 1.
